Our History

Nottingham Tutorial College was established in 2009 with the aim of providing schools with alternate education and courses to enrich the learning of secondary school pupils. We developed our highly popular GCSE Grade Raiser Days and Character Education course Pump It Up, delivering our services to hundreds of schools throughout the East Midlands and beyond. Due to the quality of our courses, schools soon started requesting specialist intervention teaching both 1:1 and in small groups to assist students in achieving predicted GCSE grades. Over the next 6 years, we formed partnership links with schools all over the UK and further developed our curriculum and courses. We started delivering our services in both mainstream schools and to excluded pupils who needed a different type of provision in order to succeed.

Present Day

In September 2016, we relocated to a new setting at Falcon House in Sherwood and have been here ever since. We have renovated the building into a purpose-built learning hub in which we operate as an Alternative Provision; installing a fully operational science lab and a design and technology workshop. We are now one of the largest provisions in Nottingham and offer both 1:1 and small group teaching to excluded pupils within the city. Our background has enabled us to develop a bespoke curriculum to give our students the best chance of academic success whilst providing them with a safe and nurturing environment in which they can also develop personally, learning important life skills and mature into independent young adults.

“A teacher’s response has crucial consequences … It creates a climate of compliance or defiance, a mood of contentment or contention, a desire to make amends or to take away revenge. Teachers have the power to affect a child’s life for better or for worse. A child becomes what he or she experiences.”
